The weather was still a bit dull and miserable but not enough to put a damper on our spirit. It was a 'last chance' for Johan to get a rod in the water and we still wanted to take a long boat ride down the river to see the setting sun...
Johan and Bakkies finally managed to get out mid morning...all dressed up warmly as it is always cooler on the water. Lucky for them the wind wasn't blowing too much, but they were highly disappointed to see that someone had 'stolen' their fishing spot. They watched as the 'thieves' brought in catch after catch, obviously feeding on the mielie bombs that Bakkies had gone out and thrown in the water earlier in the morning. Although their own fishing wasn't as successful as the previous two times, they still enjoyed time out from their 'every day' lives.
At five we walked down to the river edge and waited for them to return in the boat so we could all go down the river....the wind was picking up and the air was fresh but it was lovely. The rippling of the water as smaller boats returned home, rocked us as we sailed on. We watched as some residents and holiday makers were packing up for the night, while others were getting ready for night fishing. Still more had fires going ready to braai for suppertime. Big, open windows and double doors, gave perfect viewing of families winding down after the day, laughing and talking in voices made louder by the still calm air...NiQi and I snapped happily with our cameras as the sun quickly slipped behind the mountain, only to be seen again as we rounded a bend in the river and remembering that for every 1000 photo's taken there is only ever really one that is impressive.
Lasagne was waiting for us at home, already cooked, ready to warm our starving bellies...another day over...
