Fantails...

This morning whilst outside feeding the brood, I noticed that there was a broken egg lying just to the side of a fantail pigeon...we inherited these pigeons from a neighbour whose husband passed away just 3 months ago and have no intention of keeping them, but the lady who is wanting them has as yet not been to collect them from us.  This silly pigeon obviously felt it was time to lay a couple of eggs and not having a nest of any kind, she settled herself right next to the food bowl.  At one stage I tried to give her something to nest in and moved the eggs for her, but she didn't like it at all...so I just left her.  I didn't ever think these eggs would hatch out so I am most surprised to see that one of them actually has.  We will see if the chick manages to grow up, especially with there being 4 other pigeons in the cage with them.
