Hospital Admission Again

So if you read my previous blog you know that yesterday was clinic day...
Having arrived as late as we did, NiQi went straight up to the ninth floor instead of going to the lung function department first. Usually if you aren't with them by 8 am then you have to wait till much later in the day to see them, after they have completed ward rounds. (We found out later though that there is always someone there for anyone who comes late....not a problem though as she will have her lung function tested on Monday )
NiQi registered for clinic then we went to sit and wait to see her doctor. I had imagined that with us being so late we would more than likely be last to arrive and have to wait for hours still. As it turned out she was second and either anyone else who booked for clinic was later than us or decided with all the rain pelting down outside, to stay away. When her doctor came to call her NiQi asked me to go in with her, which she doesn't often do these days...so I was quite chuffed that she did.
Well her weight is down 200g and she explained to her doctor that even though she feels hungry she finds she doesn't finish her food because she feels full soon after starting to eat. She also hasn't done her night feeds as regularly in the last two weeks because of her PEG giving her problems... She gave her listed sugar levels to her doctor who agreed with her that the elevated readings indicate she most likely now has CFRD (Cystic Fibrosis Related Diabetes. Much like diabetes in other people just slightly more complicated by the Cystic Fibrosis).
The long and the short of the visit is she is being admitted on Sunday and whilst she is in she will have a glucose test done followed by trials of insulin. Her PEG is also going to be replaced as it has been in for almost 2 years and every time NiQi uses it she has to re-inflate the balloon inside her stomach which prevents the PEG coming out.
Her doctor also mentioned that she was recently chatting to the specialist who will perform the transplant and she is excited that the time is getting closer to handing NiQi over to him as his patient....
