Today is Johan's birthday...he's 54 years old, still looks really good, not as fit as he used to be but plenty active. It is always easier to make a spouse feel special when there are still children at home and NiQi does her best. She has a generous and caring heart and today she showed this by taking us all out for coffee and cake after church. Not a big cake eater Johan opted for a scone with jam...not even cream with it as he doesn't like cream. Kyle, NiQi and I made up for his lack of cake eating with Kyle and I having a slice of strawberry cheesecake and NiQi, lemon meringue pie.
This afternoon we lazed around trying to survive the oppressing heat...at 3pm it was still 37 outside, so you can imagine we were sweltering. Late evening Johan built a braai to cook our meat and tomato, cheese and onion sandwiches. We were pleasantly surprized that the meat was so tender and tasty, in fact for me to say that about meat is unusual, but it was great.
Now it's cooler and the wind is blowing gales, so hopefully we will feel cooler in the morning.
Feeling tired now so off to bed. I can always edit this tomorrow if I wish.
