Dung Beetles...

The dung beetles are busy outside after the recent rains.  The grass is green the horse poops are moist and better nourished and they can't get enough of it.  I have always found dung beetles fascinating to watch as they busy themselves rolling the ball of dung bigger and bigger.  I used to wonder why when I saw two beetles on one ball of dung that only one of them rolled the ball and the other was a 'passenger', and then someone told me that the one who is being rolled along with the ball is actually laying its eggs in it....very interesting and it makes me happy to see that nature is able to recycle...lol
